Science & Engineering Ambassadors
What is the main aim of the SEAs programme?
- to support teachers by enriching the curriculum
- to inspire and enthuse young people about science, maths, design and technology, and engineering
- facilitate and enable young people to make links with school based learning and the world of work
- to raise young peoples’ awareness of related careers in business and industry
What will the Ambassadors Do?
- Support teachers in the delivery of the school curriculum
- Support school activities like clubs, awards and competitions
- Act as role models
- Be involved with student mentoring and career mentoring
- Help to provide work experience placements for teachers
What do I need to be an Ambassador?
- Enthusiasm and Commitment
- Real life, up-to-date, experiences within related work settings.
- Above all, a passion for what you do, a wish to inspire young people to achieve their full potential, and have a "good story to tell".

- We welcome applications from people who work at technician level through to those who have a degree (or higher) qualifications.
- We ask you to have a genuine interest in the educational needs of children and young people.
- We are keen to ensure we have a range of people in terms of their age, background and level of expertise.
Before being approved as a Science and Engineering Ambassador you will be
- Checked through the Criminal Records Bureau
- Briefed on today’s education needs
